Fantastic Kite surfing school. The instructor Matt is very consistent, knowledgeable and a great teacher. I felt very safe in this learning environment. A lot of students in Kalpitiya are out of control and make it hard when they get in your way. Matt taught me all the skills I needed to do to avoid the other riders. By the end of the week I felt very confident in the things I learned. I would recommend this kite surfing school to anyone. And the kite school in in the perfect location. It’s just a two minute boat ride to the beach across the bay. Really ideal. Very classy learning environment. They are building a really nice center. I can’t wait to go back in August and see the completed building.

Matt Kwantes is a fantastic and professional instructor. His years of experience and talent at kitesurfing and teaching really come across. Everything from kite aero and handling technical sessions to equipment management and safety considerations are consistently delivered in a logical and situationally relevant manner. He takes every opportunity to deliver a teaching point. I felt that pieces of the puzzle fell into place at exactly the right time. I did not feel rushed or overly fatigued throughout, with just the right balance of support and independent activity to gain competence. His focus on safety and efficient practices for handling the kite made the maximum use of the lesson time and will probably save me equipment and wasted effort down the road.

Advanced kitesurfer can start in front of school and find their spot in the lagoon or out in the waves. If you prefer to start at the wide sandy beach, Rahman will bring you with the boat and supports you with all you needs. They build a shelter to have a rest and store your stuff during the day. Which is very much possible here: they have their own kite school with cheerful and very professional Canadian kite instructor Matt.All brand new North material for rent, for very reasonable prices. Lessons are available with Matt, we were impressed by the professional level of his lessons. Although we didn't actually take lessons, Matt joined us kiting in a low key manner, and even supplied me of a free self-rescue 'lesson' out of pure passion for the sport.Wish I'd done my lessons here, I have rarely seen them given more safe and professional and nicely in English. The kite spot is just awesome: with a 10 minute boat trip you end up at a sandstrip where you can either surf the sea, of the lagoon. Perfect for both beginners and advanced kitesurfers.Villa Setha Wadi is a beautifull place, thoughtfull personal and a very lovely kitchen. Beds were comfortable, the barhroom was superb. They help you to get around and away by tuctuc whenever you need, and even serve your drinks at your own terrace.If you go for kitesurfing: I'd recommend here rather then the surrounding schools.

Excellent place to stay during kite holidays in Kalpitiya. I took lessons with Mr. Matt to improve my jumping skills. I was taught in a professional manner, the safety standards are of high level, kiting skills improved considerably.

Great Kite center! Matt and the team were very friendly and supportive. They can take you by boat to the other side for launching the kite in the hut. For wingfoil the spot is amazing, you can leave from the hotel pier alone. I recommend smaller mast for the foil, 65cm and 75cm so you can ride in low tide also. Totally recommend and I will be back😁

he kite school has the perfect location right on the Kalpitiya lagoon. They take you to the other side with their boat where they have a hut and the team will help you set up everything. There are also many downwinds that can be done in the area. The hotel has a beautiful pool to watch the sunset after a nice kite session.

Matt guided me time and time again with incredible professionalism.. and at every step he added professional "tips" at a really friendly level.. The club provides boat services to the other side of the surf lagoon, help with inflation.. equipment installation.. problem solving.. completion Shortcomings.. information about the site.. surfing recommendations.. and more.... Matt is a great kite instructor. He really takes his time and I felt like I was in good hands right from the start. First there was a short theory unit at school. Then we took the boat across the lagoon to the kite beach. Matt explains everything and you don't just learn to drive but everything about it. From setting up the kite, launching, landing, self-rescue etc 🙂 I learned a lot and had a great time. Thanks Matt, I'll be happy to come back 🙂

I’ve taken classes at many kite schools over the last 2 years and I have to say Matt is one of the best out there. The accomodation at the school is also fabulous. Matt is really knowledgeable and experienced and totally tailors the lessons to your needs. He is also really focused on safe kiting and has lots of practical tips on spotting potential dangers and safe launching and landing. The video feedback after the lesson was also extremely helpful. The Kite instructor helped us a lot. Thanks Matt!! He gave two of us safety training and taught the other two how to jump. There were extra kiteguys who took us by boat (from the hotel) to the other side of the beach, helped with setting up and also with launching and landing the kites. Twice we went to other spots, we were given lunch lunch and the kite instructor came along upon request! There are really many beautiful places for kiting there. The staff was super friendly, they helped organize trips and made everything possible! Very committed and friendly! Thanks to Sun and Sunil! The food was super delicious! All variations were possible and allergies were taken into account!

Recommended! I have been to another school in Kalpitiya before and I have to say that there was no comparison. He patiently explains the theory right from the start, so that I understood everything the first time and was able to gradually apply it. But what I found most important was that he placed a lot of emphasis on safety in order to avoid accidents. After a few days with it, I feel confident in handling the kite and can build on it well.
